I have the coolest little kid
Published on April 11, 2006 By Ms Mitchell In Humor
My baby is the coolest 6yo on the planet. OK--I know every mommy thinks their baby is the Shizznit (i'm not sure what that means but my 15 yo assures me it's a good thing). I teach school and I can see that my kid has coolularity that other kids only hope to achieve in puberty.
Allow me to offer evidence.

A. My kid can quote entire chunks of movies after watching them only once. He can do the scene in Shrek 2 when the Fairy Godmother picks up King Harold for a talk. He even has the accents. You can tell John Cleese from Jennifer Saunders. (Educator in me says Hmmm auditory learner.)

B. He crawled into my bed on a Saturday morning and laid his little sleep sweaty head on my breast and sighed with satisfaction. Then he took my face between his little hands, looked me in the eye and sang, "Wild Thang! You make my heart sing! you make everything groovy!"

C. I just recently started taking guitar lessons (from none other than our own ParaTed---Shameless name dropper that I am). So I was practicing a Beatles song. Ooh I need your love babe.....Pause for chord change....guess you....nope...Guess you know it's....chord change.....true....
Kiddo chimed in with Hold me ,love me, hold me, love me. I ain't got nothin but love babe. Eight days a week.
So I tuned the remaining four strings on his little guitar to D major and let him jam.
On further investigation, I found out that he knows most of the Beatles songbook. (I have to thank 17yo for that, because, cool though the Fab Four may be, I just don't like tham all that much--heresy, I know).
Hmmm Auditory Learner? I think so.
Cool little kid? Most definitely!

Very cool. My 9yo has a Jones for "West Side Story" and broke into "The First Cut is the Deepest" last week when I was playing guitar. She's my future Laura Nyro.

Case closed!  No contest!  Forget it!  No one can compete with that!

Yours can't be the "coolest" because my two are tied for that position   I agree that kindergartners rock.  My 5yo is at that magical age where he is cool and independent but so incredibly sweet and still a little guy who loves to snuggle.

I'm jealous about your getting lessons from ParaTed!

I'll 2nd Dr. Guy here.... any 6 yo who belts out a line or two of Wild Thing, is way up there on the Cool Scale ;~D

I must be one heckuva guitar teacher if you are already into alternate tunings after just what... 6 lessons?

Maybe soon you'll be able to graduate from Beatles songs to real Rock & Pop music... ;~D

Your kid is cool....but my ten year old has informed me that only "old" people say 'cool'....so enjoy wild thing status because before long you may be relegated to old....buwhahahahaha.
